While my feet are firmly planted in the modern style I would say my specialty would be retro and avant-garde. Taking something vintage and making it work for todays’ style scene is exciting to me. I love traditional cuts and can rock the extremes ones from time to time. I especially take pride in being the Retail manager for the salon, making sure that the salon stays well stocked in professional take- home maintenance for you, our clients. Outside of my work here at Snips, I enjoy movies, art, my punk band Lockstep, as well as giving back to the all age’s music community by working for Piradical Productions.
I am very thankful for what has turned out to be a long, successful career. I started in the early 80’s as a platform Artist for L’Image Cosmetics, following that I did work for Indianapolis Monthly, Indianapolis Woman, Fox 59 Morning Show and hair design for Civic, Footlight, and Warren Summerfest Theaters.
As a Designer I created “STAGES- A Style Retrospective” and “Up from the Dirt “. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with photographer Quay to design Life and Death: A photo shoot. I have trained with some of America’s top industry talent; Paul Mitchell, Sam Brocatto, Gino Stampora, Horst, and Bennie Pollard as well as international artists in Milan Italy.
A belief that education and good business ethics lead to success has helped me with all of my business ventures…

My mother started in the business when I was seven and my sister when I was fourteen. Spending most of my time in the salon growing up it was pretty easy for me to get behind the chair. I guess you could say I grew up in the business!
Hello, my name is Sarah Clarkson. I enjoy intense color work, and I am proud to be the salon color coordinator. In addition to your stylist, you can see me for any questions you may have about your color. I am twenty-three years old, a former Irvington resident, and proud to continue my professional career here at Snips. I attended Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in my grade school years, and graduated from Scecina Memorial high school.
Out of high school I took time to seriously consider my career choices, and decided that hair and skin beauty was my calling. I attended a Cut Above beauty college and received my cosmetology license.
In the last months while finishing my studies at Cut Above, I started working a Snips. This has been a great opportunity to work with a master stylist such as Anthony and the other stylists to utilize skills taught to me in school, and refine and put new ideas to use. I believe that this oppportunity has helped me become the stylist I am today.
Outside of the salon I am a very active person. I love to walk my dog, spend time with my husband, and am busy preparing for my lastest project, a baby.
I take pride in living an active and healthy lifestyle, which is why I love working at Snips.
Senior Stylist/Wedding Coordinator
As a lifelong resident of the Eastside, I am proud to be a member of the SNIPS professional team. My Husband and I are both Scecina and IU graduates.
After teaching Special Education for several years I taught pre-school at Holy Spirit for 10 years. All four of my children attended Holy Spirit. As they grew up and moved on I was fortunate enough to be able to follow my dreams and attend Aveda Fredric Institute for Cosmetology. The highlight of my time at Aveda was being chosen to be a stylist for breast cancer survivors at the Race for the Cure.
I have been fortunate in my 5 years as a stylist to participate in many creative projects; including photo shoots, print work for Ads and pagaents. Most recently, I had the opportunity to judge the Indianapolis 500 Princess Pageant. My advanced training and passion for formal hairstyling has led to my promotion as “wedding coordinator” for the salon.
It is extremely rewarding to create that magical look for any special occasion. As a professional stylist I strive to listen to individual needs and provide a “look” that compliments their lifestyle.
Senior Stylist/Make-up Artist
I have always loved doing hair and make-up, so it was obvious to me to dive into the beauty industry.
I attended Empire and came to Snips after my schooling. I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with and learn from so many talented people. I am excited to see where this journey takes me! I love working with people and making them feel good about themselves.
Master Stylist/Make-up Artist
Growing up, none of my family or friends would have ever guessed I’d end up in the beauty industry! As a 2008 graduate of The Salon Professional Academy, I was fortunate to receive an exceptional education including advanced training in color chemistry and correction. In 2009, I joined the Snips team and instantly fell in love with the staff, location and clientele, however, life decided to take me in another direction. After a few years of searching for a place to call my own, a casual conversation turned into the realization that I have always belonged with Snips and I am so thrilled to be back!
While I enjoy all aspects of my art, I especially take pride in my ability to create specialized color for each and every client. Along with the artistic aspect, I have always been fascinated with the chemistry behind color creation and correction. I love being able to take a client from being content with their look to thrilled about their appearance. Being able to enhance the natural beauty of each and every individual is by far one of the greatest rewards of our business and something I strive to perfect every day.
I grew up a punk rock kid with a love for diversity, and creativity. Starting from teenage years, I loved skin care, make-up and hair. I did not have to think twice when I found out The State of Indiana created separate licensing for skin care and make-up.
I earned my Aesthetic License in 1997. Right away I had the amazing fortune to train with German Aestheticians, that sent me to Baden Baden, Germany, and Strasbourg France for advanced Spa Techniques to not only continue to learn about about skin care but to also to understand how the body and skin responds to health. Your face and body are a map to your health. This became my passion for treating skin, and I practice it to this day.
I went on to work for plastic surgeons, and dermatologists where I received training in medical grade products and services, like chemical peels, laser hair removal, laser skin correction, advanced skin peeling, spider vein treatments, skin conditions, and medications. I stayed in the medical aesthetic field for 17 years until I found out about SNIPS.
After being an aesthetician for nearly 20 years, I have to say, I still love it in every possible way.
